How old is my sister?
Here is today’s challenge. The image below shows a riddle that goes:
When I was 2, my sister was twice my age. Now that I’m 40 how old is my sister?
Pretty easy, right? I can give you a small hint; it’s not as simple as it looks.
If you can’t solve it, we’ll share the correct answer after the image below.
A
B
C
Here is the answer
When you were 2 years old, your sister was twice your age, which means she was 4 years old at that time (2 years x 2 = 4 years).
Now that you are 40 years old, you need to calculate the age difference between you and your sister back then and apply it to your current age. The age difference between you and your sister is 2 years (4 years – 2 years = 2 years).
Therefore, if your sister were 2 years older than you when you were 2 years old, she would also be 2 years older than you. Hence, your sister is currently 42 years old (40 years + 2 years = 42 years).
So, 42 years old is the answer.
